Mountaineering, climbing and via ferrata

Qualified climbing guides and instructors invite you to discover this safe activity, which offers a different approach to the mountains. Events are also organized in summer to introduce you to climbing, mountaineering and rock-climbing.

Another climbing activity similar to rock-climbing and widely present in the region is via-ferrata. In Valfréjus, Aussois, Avrieux, Val Cenis and Bessans, walls have been equipped with rungs, ladders, steps and cables for this activity. With the right equipment and a minimum of experience, it's possible to practice independently, but it's advisable to hire a guide to test the via-ferrata in complete safety. On the Forts de l'Esseillon side of the Gorges du Diable, several spectacular routes combine to form one of the longest via-ferrata routes in Europe.
