Major mountain passes and cycling routes

Haute Maurienne Vanoise also offers more secret, and often spectacular, climbs, such as Plan du Lac from Val Cenis-Termignon. This route takes you into the heart of the Vanoise National Park, at an altitude of over 2300 metres! 15 kilometers, over 1000 meters of ascent and gradients of over 10%. The whistles of the marmots will be there to encourage you during the effort. From Avrieux, take the old route des forts de l'Esseillon, pass through Aussois and climb to the Plan d'Amont dam. Test your mettle on the 14 lacets of Valfréjus, then take the other side towards L'Orgère: your calves will love it. And to go even further, treat yourself to "La Poule", a tour of the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys, or take an international tour via Italy from Mont-Cenis, returning via the Col de l'Echelle, Briançon and Galibier.
