Mountaineering, climbing and via ferrata

Here, climbing is second nature: a tradition of mountaineering that has even been recognized by Unesco at Bessans and Bonneval sur Arc. There are numerous climbing routes to suit all levels, from beginner to advanced. Practice mountaineering, climbing or via ferrata at Haute Maurienne Vanoise and discover the mountains in a different way.

Information

Qualified climbing guides and instructors invite you in complete safety to discover this practice which allows a different approach to the mountain. Events are also organized in summer to discover climbing, mountaineering and climbing.

Another climbing activity that is similar to rock climbing and is widely present in the area is the via-ferrata. In Valfréjus, Aussois, Avrieux, Val Cenis and Bessans, walls have been equipped with bars, ladders, steps and cables to practice this activity. With some equipment and a minimum of experience, it is possible to practice independently but it is recommended to call upon a guide to test the via-ferrata in complete safety. On the side of the Forts de l'Esseillon, in the Gorges du Diable, several spectacular routes together form one of the longest via-ferrata routes in Europe.
