Telegraph Chappe Mollard Fleury

Historic site and monument in Val-Cenis

Gratuit
  • The Chappe telegraph is an optical telecommunications system set up by Napoleon. Located at an altitude of 2004 m on the Paris Milan line in the Vanoise National Park, the Mollard-Fleury poste (or substation) has been restored and in summer regular tours will allow you to discover its operation. Two other substations have also been restored, making it possible to send messages.

  • These first vestiges, located in Savoie in 2002, have regained all their splendour and are worth the diversion, possible thanks to the signposted routes to the Mollard-Fleury site from Sardières or Aussois. Two other posts have been restored, at Saint-André and Avrieux, and every summer transmissions are organised to discover how it works. A unique event in the world!
