Val Cenis Sollières' museum of archaeology

Museum, History, Science and technology, Prehistory, Archaeology in Val-Cenis

From :  4,7 Full-fare
  • The first farmers and cattle breeders of the Neolithic settled in the Balmes cave overlooking Val Cenis Sollières in Haute Mauirienne some 5 600 years ago. The museum exhibits the collection of the daily life artefacts of these first moutains dwellers

  • The site is a reference in alpine archeology because it has brought many elements of understanding of the occupation of the high alpine valleys by the populations of the Neolithic. The objects and craft products exhibited in the museum immerse the visitor in the daily life of these mountaineers who had relations with their environment that went well beyond simple subsistence.
