From marble canyons to quartzite cliffs, from schist basins to copper mines... Come and discover the geological wealth of the historic commune of Val Cenis-Termignon, the second largest in mainland France!
Description
Located at the meeting point of several geological units, the immediate surroundings of the village of Val-Cenis Termignon allow to observe a beautiful diversity of rocks: schists, gypsum, cargneulas, limestones, dolomites, marbles, quartzites, micaschists...
Some of these rocks are rich in metals, the exploitation of which has given our corner of the valley a captivating mining history, now on the way to being forgotten.
Rather than long speeches, this exhibition invites you to discover the forms that these different rocks take in our landscape.
For those who would like to know more about the sites illustrated, the exhibition is accompanied by a brochure available from the Tourist Office.
