Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc

Since its first edition 16 years ago, in January 2005, the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc has been the annual event for sled dogs in Europe. It is the most demanding stage race in the world in a unique alpine setting, and now a benchmark for mid-distance.

It is also one of the great winter highlights in the heart of Haute Maurienne Vanoise, which, as holidaymakers and residents alike, moves crowds!

13,000 m of cumulative altitude difference

12 days of competition

400 km

The competition takes place over 12 days, from 11 to 22 January 2020, covering 400km (almost one marathon per day) and 25,000m of cumulative altitude difference, including 13,000m of positive altitude difference, representing 3 times the climb of Mont Blanc from Chamonix.

Every year, it brings together more than 55 international mushers and their 500 top-level dog athletes in the superb landscapes of Savoie Mont Blanc.
Every year, more than 50,000 spectators enjoy a unique experience, in the heart of the 20 resorts, towns and villages dressed in festive clothes for the occasion, by attending La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc.

La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is a real adventure with a great A, which promotes a certain vision of sport, nature and respect for the environment.
