Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc ‑ Bessans ‑ Bonneval sur Arc

Since its first edition 16 years ago, in January 2005, the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc has been the annual event for sled dogs in Europe. It is the most demanding stage race in the world in a unique alpine setting, and now a benchmark for mid-distance.

It is also one of the great winter highlights in the heart of Haute Maurienne Vanoise, which, as holidaymakers and residents alike, moves crowds!

13,000 m of positive altitude difference

12 days of competition

400 km

The competition takes place over 12 days, from 11 to 22 January 2020, covering 400 km (almost one marathon per day) and 25,000 m of cumulative altitude difference, including 13,000 m of positive altitude difference, representing 3 times the climb of Mont Blanc from Chamonix.

Every year, it brings together more than 55 international mushers and their 500 top-level dog athletes in the superb landscapes of Savoie Mont Blanc.
Every year, more than 50,000 spectators enjoy a unique experience, in the heart of the 20 resorts, towns and villages dressed in festive clothes for the occasion, by attending La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc.

La Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is a real adventure with a great A, which promotes a certain vision of sport, nature and respect for the environment.

10h – 15h : Animations Far North – Quechua test park snow trekking
11h – 11h30 : Animations on the departure area
11h30 – 12h : Departure in Mass-Start in 3 waves
13h05 – 14h45 : Passage to Bessans (near the departure area)

Place of arrival : Old bridge – Bonneval sur Arc
12h – 13h45: Passage to Bonneval-sur-Arc (car access)
13h30 – 15h40: Arrival and prize-giving ceremony
