Last Ice climbing meeting

A spectacular and friendly meeting on the sites of Bessans and Bonneval sur Arc, where you can learn ice climbing. Demonstration of the national ice climbing team, presentation of the different techniques. The best climbers will compete in waterfall and dry-tooling on natural waterfalls, ice cliffs, canyons, snow corridors… 3 courses on 3 sites.

Grand Parcours Bessans – Bonneval sur Arc

An exceptional opportunity to discover the activity or to improve your technique.

3 rock climbing courses

• Youth ice axes: specifically for sports schools, schools and youth structures
• Initiation: you have never practiced this activity or very little.
• Improvement: you have already done it several times. You wish to improve your skills.

3 climbing areas

• The Barmettes cliff: ice-covered cliff at the Biathlon site
• The Ecot valley: natural waterfalls, snow corridors, canyon
• The Ribon valley: natural waterfalls, snow corridor

PROGRAM

Saturday 12th March 2022

8.00 am: Welcome of the participants – Foyer de ski de fond de Bessans (le Carreley)
9.00am – 4.00pm : Courses according to groups and levels
17h00 – 19h00 : Demonstration at Falaise des Barmettes, hot apple juice, fireworks
After 7.00 pm: Festive evening, convivial meal in the Salle de l’Albaron (Bessans) followed by a conference by Pierre Alain Duvillard: “Will the Alps fall on our heads?” – Evolution of the high mountains and associated risks in the French Alps

Sunday 13th March 2022

8:00 am: Welcome of participants – Foyer de ski de fond de Bessans (le Carreley)
10:00 – 16:00: Course

This programme is subject to change according to weather, ice, snow and health conditions.

Equipment

Each participant must have: mountaineering boots, 2 ice axes, crampons, harness + lanyard + 2 carabiners + quickdraws (optional), helmet, safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe) (*), a rucksack with food (water + snack).

The weather conditions can be very cold even in March. It is essential to have clothes adapted to the conditions.

RATES

• If you are a member of the FFCAM: please have your membership number ready so that you do not have to pay the insurance offered by the discovery card.)

• If you are not a member of the FFCAM: You will have to subscribe to a discovery card (temporary licence + personal insurance).
Prices: 5 € / day or 10€ / 2 days.
