Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc ‑ Aussois

Since the first event in January 2005, the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc has been THE annual dog-sledding race in Europe. It is the most demanding stage race in the world, it takes place in an exceptional alpine setting, and it has become a benchmark in mid-distance racing.

It is also one of the region’s great winter highlights, attracting crowds of holidaymakers and residents alike into the heart of Haute Maurienne Vanoise.

With the COVID-19 context and the national measures announced, the event will take place behind closed doors.

The competition takes place over 12 days, from 9th to 20th January 2021. It covers 300 km at an average of 32 km per day, climbs a cumulative elevation gain of 11 400 metres, and features a mass start and 10 stages “against the clock”.

This year, it brings together more than 65 international mushers and 550 top-level canine athletes, all in the superb landscape of Savoie Mont Blanc.
Every year, more than 50,000 spectators in the 20 resorts, towns and villages of Savoie and Haute-Savoie, dressed in festive style for the occasion, enjoy the unique experience of attending the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc race.

The Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is adventure with a capital A, advocating a certain vision of sport, nature and respect for the environment.

First stage of the Trophée 4

• Start and finish line: Centre-resort (next to the Maison d’Aussois)
1.30pm – 6.30pm: Far North Demonstrations
2.30pm – 3pm: Activities in the departure area
3pm– 4.10pm: Departure
4.55pm – 6.30pm: Arrival and prize ceremony

• Places to be:
3.55pm – 4.35pm: Race comes to the Sardières Monolith (snowshoe access)
4.05pm – 4.45pm: Race comes to the Sardières plateau – Nordic Centre (car access)
4.30pm – 5.30pm: Race comes to La Croix d’Aussois (car access)
