Walking and hiking

Our hiking tips:

  • Always warn someone of your itinerary before you leave
  • Walk at your own pace without going too fast. Follow the marked paths so as not to get lost. There are about 300 meters of ascent per hour for an average walker.
  • Remember to drink small sips of not too cold water regularly before you get thirsty.
  • Avoid disturbing the flocks of sheep in the mountain pastures. The patous are there to defend them!
  • Do not take shelter under a tree in case of thunderstorm and do not run downhill in rainy weather.
  • Knowing 112: the European emergency number

The mountain guides and the Val Cenis guide offices offer a full and half-day excursion programme all summer long. Do not hesitate to contact them!
