Vallonbrun's Rifuge Hiking
in Val-Cenis
Loop
-
This elevated itinerary offers Alpine pastures, chalets and lovely panoramic views over the Charbonnel mountains. The chapels of Saint-Antoine and Le Collet can be visited in the summer season if you collect a key from St Roch chapel. The refuge proposes drinking water, meals and picnic tables.
-
Behind the chapel, take the GR5 hiking trail which climbs across the mountain pastures. After passing the old chalets of "Le Mollard", the path heads west to the Vallonbrun refuge. From there, take the vehicle track down to the locality called "La Fesse en Bas", then leave the track to follow the path that winds off to the right. After crossing a forest road 3 times, follow it to reach the D902 road, then turn left onto a narrow tarmac road to reach the pass.
