Le Thabor

in Valfréjus

  • A perfect example of a Haute-Tarentaise village, Le Monal has long been a listed site. However, even this delightful collection of stone houses interspersed with larch trees on the edge of a small lake, cannot eclipse the breathtaking view of Mont Pourri.

  • From the car park, follow the farm track to the second hairpin. Leave the track and continue straight on to the hamlet of La Combaz. A path climbs due east, past the foot of the cliffs, to Le Monal. After the chapel, turn right and continue up the farm track. Type of itinerary : circuit. Maps: IGN Top 25 n° 3532 ET Les Arcs La Plagne
  • After the village of Ste-Foy, follow the Tignes-Val d’Isère road to the Tunnel de la Savinaz. Just before the tunnel, turn left onto the road to Le Chenal. Park in Le Chenal.
