  • This itinerary begins in a lush green wilderness and visits the highly diverse landscape of the long Lombarde valley. The refuge proposes drinking water, meals and a room for picnickers.
    Variants suitable for everyone from families with children to seasoned athletes.

  • 250 metres after the Vincendières hamlet, turn left onto the path which leads almost to the hamlet of Avérole. Continue along the road, through Avérole and take the track on the left which leads to the foot of the refuge. Allow 20 minutes to follow the fairly steep path up to the refuge. Continue on the right bank to the Pas de la Mule pass. Cross the Lombarde stream and go up to the herdsmen's cabin, then turn right onto the path which follows the left bank down, via the Oratory of...

Continue along the road, through Avérole and take the track on the left which leads to the foot of the refuge. Allow 20 minutes to follow the fairly steep path up to the refuge. Continue on the right bank to the Pas de la Mule pass. Cross the Lombarde stream and go up to the herdsmen's cabin, then turn right onto the path which follows the left bank down, via the Oratory of Saint-Antoine de l'Envers. It winds a little before reaching the footbridge across the stream. From there you have several options: remain on the left bank and go down to the Vincendières car park, or cross the stream to reach Averole hamlet or to climb back up to Averole refuge.

    From Avérole (shuttle bus): Elevation gain 425 metres, 3 hrs 45 mins
