Hiking trails

The mention of a holiday in the mountains conjures images of Alpine pastures, nature walks and pleasant exercise, alone or with the family. From La Norma there are several trails to choose from. The most adventurous can even walk to the top of Pointe de la Norma! You can contemplate the summits of the Vanoise National Park facing the resort, or take the family exploring this protected habitat and the flora and fauna to be found along the Orgère Valley Discovery Trail.

Our hiking tips:

  • Always let someone know your itinerary before you leave
  • Walk at your own pace without starting off too fast. Follow the marked paths to avoid getting lost. The average walker can cope with an elevation gain of about 300 metres an hour.
  • Remember to drink water that’s not too cold, regularly and in small sips, without waiting until you feel thirsty.
  • Avoid disturbing the flocks in the mountain pastures. The patou sheepdogs are there to protect them!
  • In the event of a storm, do not shelter under a tree and do not run downhill in rainy weather.
  • Take note of the European emergency phone number, 112

Please note that pets are not allowed in the Vanoise National Park. There are plenty of waymarked trails outside the Park where you can take your dog or cat for a walk.

You can get closer to the summits and reach the high-altitude hiking trails via certain ski lifts that open in the summer.
