Hiking trails

Hiking destination this summer?
You are making the right choice when you set off to discover the wide open spaces and unspoilt nature. Here, the air is pure and the numerous hiking trails that are available guarantee you a well-deserved freedom!

Our hiking tips:

  • Always warn someone of your itinerary before you leave
  • Walk at your own pace without going too fast. Follow the marked paths so as not to get lost. There are about 300 meters of ascent per hour for an average walker.
  • Remember to drink small sips of not too cold water regularly before you get thirsty.
  • Avoid disturbing the flocks of sheep in the mountain pastures. The patous (dogs) are there to defend them!
  • Do not take shelter under a tree in case of thunderstorm and do not run downhill in rainy weather.
  • Knowing 112: the European emergency number

We would like to inform you that pets are not allowed in the Vanoise National Park and that there are a multitude of marked trails that are not in the Park where you can walk with your dog or cat.

You can get closer to the summits and go on the high altitude hiking trails thanks to the ski lifts open in the summer.

A map of the walking trails in Haute Maurienne Vanoise is on sale with the guide below, from all the Tourist Offices in the area.
