The Ecot

Hamlet perched at 2000 m altitude, 4 km from Bonneval sur Arc by going up the Arc. It is the subject of a very nice walk. The chalets of l’Ecot, made of stones and slate roofs overhang the bottom of the valley. You will be amazed by the simple and austere architecture of this hamlet at the end of the world which translates well the harshness of human life in high altitude!

Authenticity and simplicity

This hamlet steeped in history since the Middle Ages, completely restored and protected since 1971, was chosen to be the village of Sebastien and his endearing grandfather César. It is as if time has stood still in this hamlet in which you can admire these traditional stone houses grouped under the benevolent eye of the Sainte-Marguerite Chapel.

A unique character that did not escape the film crews, who knew how to sublimate its beauty in each of the adventures of Belle et Sébastien.

In summer, a family itinerary of 4 km from Bonneval sur Arc, allows hikers to go to this hamlet to discover its treasures and walk in the footsteps of Sebastian.

It is also the departure point for walks to the Carro and Evettes refuges, to the sources of the Arc, a natural and wild glacial cirque and for a beautiful canyoning descent of the Arc.

Bonneval sur Arc <-> L’Ecot

L’Ecot, the hamlet of Bonneval sur Arc, is a must-see in Haute Maurienne Vanoise. Houses with lauze roofs, chapel, view on the glaciers… L’Ecot has everything of the postcard. That’s why the hamlet was chosen to be Sebastien’s village for the movies “Belle et Sebastien”. It is also the starting point for many hikes to the Cirque des Evettes, the Grand Méan glacier, the Carro refuge…
