A small valley surrounded by mountain pastures
The Fond d’Aussois has always been inhabited in summer by the villagers of Aussois who used to lead their herds up to the mountain pastures to graze. You can still see the chalets and the chapel of Notre-Dame des Anges.
At the foot of peaks and glaciers – Pointe de l’Echelle, Rateau d’Ausssois, Pointe de l’Observatoire, Roche Chevrière, Pointe de Labby and the Labby glacier – this is also the only way to reach Pralognan la Vanoise via the Aussois pass.
The refuge at the bottom of the valley is just an hour away with a very easy hike from the Plan d’Amont dam.
A lovely walk to do with the children to discover the fauna and flora of the Vanoise National Park.
