Bonneval sur Arc

A village‑resort gem

If you only knew… how easy it is to go to the ends of the earth! For the authentic mountain experience, try the village of stone walls and slate roofs. It’s not surprising that Bonneval-sur-Arc is France’s 6th favourite village! A real treasure, a haven of peace and serenity in the heart of Savoie, on the edge of the national parks of Vanoise and Gran Paradiso in the Northern Alps.

A village-resort gem

The village-resort gem

At the bottom of the Iseran pass (elevation 2,764 metres), the village resort of Bonneval-sur-Arc attracts cyclists looking for high mountain passes and hikers in search of a revitalising break.

Classified as one of the “most beautiful villages in France”, Bonneval sur Arc is an array of traditional stone chalets with stone-slate roofs.

Between the Vanoise National Park, the glaciers (Evettes, Grand Méan, Sources de l’Arc, etc.) and the Ecot hamlet, Bonneval sur Arc is quite simply the “gem of village resorts” of Haute Maurienne Vanoise.

The hamlet of Ecot is a must! You simply cannot stay a week in Bonneval sur Arc without paying it a visit.

This key spot exists beyond time: the excuse of going up to Ecot for a coffee to see the beautiful panoramic view is a very good one!

Change of scenery!

• Walls of snow along the Iseran pass road, sometimes exceeding heights of 6 metres

• An unusual habitat  of stone and slate

• An entirely pedestrian village of streets without names and balconies in bloom

• Preserved traditions: this valley-end site is definitely worth a visit!

• Peaks in excess of 3500 metres, and a shared border with Italy’s Gran Paradiso National Park.

• From one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”, follow a rural trail to discover the hamlet of Ecot, a small village of stone houses and stone-slate roofs in a completely preserved environment.
