Haute Maurienne Vanoise

Vanoise national park

1er French national park

This preserved area, largely on the territory of Haute Maurienne Vanoise, was founded in 1963, thanks in particular to Gilbert André, then Mayor of Bonneval sur Arc. The core area, called the “heart”, is a protected area with regulations that promote the biodiversity of landscapes, environments, species and preserve the cultural and mountain heritage…

In a few steps, you are in the heart of the first national park in France. Together with the Italian Grand Paradiso National Park, they form one of the largest protected areas in the Western Alps. But, no matter what the big words are. The important thing is to open up a territory of rare experiences for you. A breathtaking landscape between peaks, lakes and deep valleys. An incredible flora of diversity and animals in their natural environment that you can approach, marmots, ibexes, chamois, bearded vultures…

Real mountain moments between mountaineering, hiking, fishing at altitude… and quite simply amazement… The park shelters about twenty glaciers, more than 100 peaks above 3000 meters, 600 km of paths, about forty refuges… and forms, with the Italian national park of the great paradise (14 km common border), the largest protected space in Europe.

1st French national park

Created in 1963 and located in Savoie, between the high valleys of the Maurienne and Tarentaise, the Vanoise National Park is the first French national park.

Let us guide you

The instructor guards offer you meetings to introduce you to their work and help you unlock the secrets of this environment.

After the effort, comfort

The mountain refuges welcome you to enjoy a well-deserved rest. An authentic and natural way to immerse yourself in this enchanting setting.

A privileged meeting with nature…

The instructors, whose missions in the National Parks are very varied, offer you meetings every summer to introduce you to their work and help you to discover the secrets of this environment that surrounds us…

Do not hesitate to contact the mountain guides labelled “Esprit Parc”. While making you evolve safely on snow-covered routes, they will attract your attention, arouse your curiosity and make you want to know more about the mountain environment.

This period is favourable, for example, to observe marmots coming out of hibernation to enjoy the heat of the sun.
