Evettes Refuge
Easy walk with children to the refuge, in direction of 2 fabulous glacial lakes. Marmots are easy to see. The refuge has a room permanently open in winter with 16 places.
Description
Avoid the gorges of the Reculaz in wet weather, when descending, with children under 12 years old, or people who are not used to hiking, or anyone prone to vertigo.

Half day hike : Departure from the refuge towards the foot of the glacier, 3h round trip + descent to Ecot (1h30), 100m difference in altitude. Great variety of rare flowers + genepy. Passage by the Reculaz waterfall with a passage on a Roman bridge.
Day hike : Departure from the refuge, climb to the foot of the Grand Néant glacier, 300 to 400m of ascent. Large glacial lake (which originates in the glacier (Icebergs). Possibility to see marmots and ibexes.

Location
Road access : Bonneval sur Arc (1800 m).
Modane - Val Cenis - Bonneval sur Arc. For all the races which leave towards Lécot, the mountain road is cleared of snow only from May.
Itinerary :
From Bonneval, reach the hammeau de l'Ecot 4 km by car. At the hammeau, go up the slopes on your right, going around the cliffs. At the Evettes pass, enjoy the view and then head north to the refuge (5 mn).
Difference in altitude : 600m, walking time : 1h30 - 2h. Possibility to go up with snowshoes and ski touring. Possibility to go up by the path to John (Réculaz), more difficult path (vertiginous) with 2 handrails on 50 m.
Coach parking at Bonneval/Arc.
