The museum presents the discoveries made at the Balmes cave and the visitor becomes a witness to the culture and cultural influences of these mountain people who maintained relationships with their environment that went far beyond simple subsistence.

Description

The first farmers and breeders of the Neolithic period settled about 5,600 years ago in the Balmes cave overlooking Val Cenis-Sollières. The museum presents all the objects of the daily life of these first mountain people of Haute Maurienne.
The objects and handicrafts exhibited in the museum plunge the visitor into the daily life of these mountain people who maintained relationships with their environment that went far beyond simple subsistence.
